Filling & Contouring

Wrinkle improvement!
Wrinkles are a sign of the ageing process of our skin. The connective tissue consists of collagen and elastic fibres and hyaluronic acid. The role of hyaluronic acid is to store water which in turn is responsible for the elasticity and vitality in the skin. Quantitative and qualitative changes of these constituents in the ageing process lead to wrinkles.
Injectable hyaluronic acid products counteract this development. Wrinkles, fine lines and atrophic
scars can be filled, resulting in a less wrinkled, firmer and more elastic skin. To maintain their effect, filler-treatments are repeated at various intervals.
Recently, it has been shown that treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers also stimulate the body's own collagen synthesis and thus contribute to a long-term effect.
Reconstruction of the cheek and neck contours with a highly viscous hyaluronic acid filler compensates for age-related volume loss. Physicians at causadermis can guarantee the best results and comprehensive support for your treatment.

How it works
Hyaluronic acid is a non-animal, biodegradable, non-allergenic product which occurs as a natural component of the connective tissue in our skin and all other organs. It is used for filling of volume-defects such as folds, wrinkles, contour loss and depressed scars. However, mimic wrinkles are better treated with Botox® or as a combination of both. Hyaluronic acid is as clear as water and has the texture of our own skin. Therefore, the treated site feels absolutely natural. Fine wrinkles need a different sort of hyaluronic acid than more pronounced wrinkles. When contours are to be treated yet another product is used. Depending on the viscosity of the filler, the effect lasts from three months to a year.

The procedure
Filling with hyaluronic acid products is an outpatient procedure. We document photographically before and after the treatment. The filler is injected by a member of our experienced team of physicians, either with a fine needle or, more recently, with small cannulas directly into the connective tissue of the skin underneath the wrinkles. Typical applications are for the treatment of pronounced wrinkling in the entire facial area. In addition, lip contours can also be specifically treated with hyaluronic acid. After the treatment the effects are instantly visible.

Recent developments
Some hyaluronic acid products contain an anaesthetic substance. This results in even less pain during the procedure. To further eliminate discomfort a local anaesthetic cream may be applied 1 hour before the treatment.

Until recently, hyaluronic acid products have been injected using a needle. A new, blunt, flexible cannula replaces the needle in some instances. This seemingly small change makes a huge difference though: even less pain, less bruising and optimised results can be achieved in this way.

Side effects and further information
Immediately after the treatment there may be a slight redness and a swelling at the injection site. These usually disappear during the day of the treatment and can be easily covered with make-up. When large areas are treated or you are on anticoagulant medication (e.g. Aspirin) bruising may occur. Rarely there may be a formation of small nodules, which will disappear spontaneously after a short time.

Since hyaluronic acid is produced synthetically and is a normal constituent of our body, an allergic reaction to the substance is unheard of.
