Melasma Treatment

Melasma means ‘mask of pregnancy’. Melasma consists of large, patchy areas of brown pigment mainly on the face and the arms and neck.  Often they are linked to pregnancy or birth control pills, but they also occur in men. On rare occasions they regress upon cessation of birth control pills. Several factors lead to a melasma:

•  individual disposition
  
•   hormones
  
•   UV light (sunlight and tanning beds)

What to do against melasma?

•   check hormonal factors
  
•  try to lighten pigment
  
•   try to camouflage the pigment
  
•   good UV protection to prevent it from worsening

What cannot be achieved in melasma treatments 

The individual disposition to build up too much pigment cannot be influenced.

Bleaching treatments

It is important to know that bleaching treatments can only lighten the pigment, it can only rarely eliminate it completely.

1. Bleaching creams

Most patients will have already used various bleaching creams without success. We will check whether the products used and above all the time during which they were applied was realistic and whether sun protection was sufficient and correct. The causa dermis melasma peel is a bleaching and peeling combination. The initial treatment is performed in our office and then continued as a home treatment for a period of several months integrated into your daily routine care.

This treatment is well-tolerated by all skin types, the whole year long. The initial treatment lasts 3 months; after this you should be able to continue on your own.

In our experience, the causa dermis melasma treatment has so far proved to be the best treatment for melasma. It also works for postlesional hyperpigmentation in acne or scarring. It is a treatment with highly effective components with few, well-tolerable side-effects. At the same time it leaves you with a wonderfully renewed skin due to its peeling effect.
