Melasma Treatment
Melasma means «Mask of pregnancy». Melasma consists of large, patchy areas of brown pigment mainly in the face and on the arms and neck. They also occurr in men, yet often they are linked to pregnancy or birth control pills. rarely the regress upon cessation of birth control pills. Several factors lead to a melasma:
- Individual disposition
- Hormones
- UV light (Sun and tanning beds)
What to do against melasma?
- check hormonal factors
- try to lighten pigment
- try to camouflage the pigment
- good UV-protection to prevent melasma from worsening
What cannot be achieved in melasma?
The individual disposition to build up too much pigment cannot be influenced.
The Bleaching Treatments
It makes sense to know that bleaching treatments can only lighten up, rarely eliminate the pigment completely.
1. Bleaching Cremes
Most patients have already used various bleaching cremes in vain. We will check whether products used and above all the time during which they were applied is realistic and whether sun protection was sufficiant and correct. We will also inform you about newer insights in melasma treatment
2. Melasma Treatment causa dermis (bleaching peel)
The Melasma Peel at causa dermis is a bleaching and peeling combination. The initial treatment is performed in our office and continued as a home treatment during several months, integrated into your daily routine care.
This treatment is well tolerated in all skin types, the whole year long. The initial treatment lasts 3 months, after this you should be able to continue on your own.
