Red skin on the cheeks and nose and sometimes even the décolleté and neck is due to ‘broken’" vessels, also called telangiectasia or spider veins. They can be embarrassing and are sometimes wrongly associated with exaggerated alcohol consumption. The causes may be genetic, due to solar radiation, high blood pressure or because of an underlying of rosacea. The gold standard treatment for broken vessels is laser treatment. Typically, a series of 4 – 6 treatments is necessary to get rid of most of the vessels. At causa dermis we offer the most advanced laser technology. Thus, we guarantee the best possible treatment. How it works
to treat broken vessels we use a pulsed laser of the latest generation (Cynergy Multiplex). This laser's energy is preferentially absorbed by the red blood pigment haemoglobin. The laser light heats up haemoglobin, thereby closing the dilated blood vessels.

 

The treatment
Laser treatment of dilated blood vessels is an outpatient procedure and takes only about half an hour. It's typically performed without anaesthesia. In some cases a single treatment is sufficient, but more often a series of 4 – 6 treatments are necessary.

 

side effects and further information
Because there is heat involved, laser treatments of dilated blood vessels are not entirely painless but they are usually well-tolerated, since during the procedure the skin is continuously air-cooled. Typical side-effects include light to moderate swelling and redness immediately after the laser treatment. They subside within a short time. In tanned skin, it is also possible that the
