Acne

Acne consists of various skin lesions. They have a misbalance of the sebaceous glands in common. This may or may not lead to greasy skin, blackheads and whiteheads, inflammation and scarring. Rarely, are the causes of acne known (hormonal, medications). Oftentimes acne is equalised with adolescent acne (juvenile acne). Some studies state that more than 25% of women between 25 and 45 still suffer from acne, which is called adult acne or late onset acne.

Despite therapeutic progress, we have to accept the fact that acne can be a longstanding, chronic problem, which needs therapeutic and cosmetic interventions from time to time.

Or, to put it bluntly: the sustainability of acne therapies can not be predetermined.

Acne has nothing to do with cleanliness, rarely with food and nothing at all with sexual activities.

Acne treatments may be topical, oral or combinations. Newer acne therapies like photodynamic acne therapy or laser therapies complement the therapeutic armamentarium.

We clarify the background of your acne, if there is evidence for systemic disease. In the acne consultation we advise you in the many possibilities of medical and cosmetic treatment options.

Cosmetic treatments are performed by our own, graduate, cosmetician. Alternatively we cooperate and advise your own cosmetician about our treatments or, we refer you to one of our external cosmeticians, from whom we know that they share our view of acne and whom we train in house in special courses.
