Our Lasers
Lasers are not magic tools to be used on your skin without good reason. Before laser therapy is performed, an exact diagnosis and good knowledge of all therapeutic possibilities with pros and cons is mandatory.
We continuously participate at international trainings and laser meetings. All our doctors are members of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery ASLMS. Our laser assistants also follow the nursing courses of this society.
In our centre we can offer you treatments with the following lasers:
Erbium YAG Laser, Sciton® TRL ProFractional XC (2940nm):
Indications:
Removal of benign skin tumours, scar and wrinkle treatments, laser peels.
Mechanism of action:
Erbium YAG lasers are ablative lasers. This infrared light evaporates water. Since human skin mainly consists of water, skin can be ablated in a very precise way. Actually fractions of a millimetre can be removed. The wound afterwards needs good care. This laser also operates in a fractional mode, whereby only fractions of skin are treated. This is the gold standard method to treat atrophic scars, mainly acne scars.
Risks:
Hypo- und Hyperpigmentation. These pigment changes are rarely persistent.
Long-pulsed Alexandrite laser, Candela, Gentle lase plus® (755nm)
Indication:
Long-term epilation of dark hair, haemangiomas.
Mechanism of action:
The laser light is absorbed by the pigment of the hair and transformed into heat which leads to delayed growth and to long-term and, to some extent, persistent hair loss of dark hair only.
Risks:
Hypo- and hyperpigmentation, rarely persistent; redness and swelling, sometimes short-lived crusting.
Dioden Laser, Candela Smoothbeam® (1450nm)
Indications:
Inflammatory acne, sebaceous gland hyperplasie, acne scarring.
Mechanism of action:
the infrared light of this laser reaches the sebaceous glands, the site of acne inflammation or hyperplasia. Inflammation improves and also skin texture. To some extent there is also collagen stimulation which in turn improves acne scars. Smoothbeam® treatments may be considered as non-drug treatments against acne, especially in adult type acne.
Risks:
Hypo- and hyperpigmentation; rarely persistent. Redness and swelling and sometimes short-lived crusting.
Pulsed dye and long pulsed Nd:YAG laser, Cynergy Multiplex® (585 & 1064nm)
Indications:
Elimination of vascular lesions: telangiectasia, broken vessels, haemangioma, port-wine stains, viral warts and hypertrophic scars. Epilation for darker skin type individuals.
Mechanism of action:
a revolutionary two-wavelength technique: by sequentially applying two different lights of wavelength 585 nm and 1064 nm haemoglobin is selectively heated up and the blood vessels eliminated. This technique appears to be the gold standard for these indications nowadays.
Risks:
Redness, swelling and for smaller telangiectasia often bruising, which can persist for 4 – 10 days. Hypo- and hyperpigmentation, rarely persistent. Redness and swelling and sometimes short-lived crusting.
q-switched Neodym YAG, HoyaConbio Medlite® 3 (532 & 1064nm)
Indications:
Elimination of tattoos, sunspots, permanent make-ups.
Mechanism of action:
Laser light of wavelength 532 and 1064 nm have the property of being absorbed in pigments, transformed into heat and thus endogenous and exogenous pigment is broken into minute particles which can then be eliminated by macrophages of the skin.
Risks:
Hypo- and hyperpigmentation, rarely persistent. Redness and swelling and sometimes short-lived crusting. On rare occasions texture changes of the skin.
Intense pulsed light: Sciton® BBL
Indications:
Elimination of dark hair, sunspots, telangiectasia. So-called photo-rejuvenation of the skin. Can be used on the face, neck, décolleté and arms.
Mechanism of action:
Unlike classic laser light, a broad-spectrum light is applied. It can also be filtered according to the desired effect and skin type. The light is absorbed in the target, which in turn is heated up and thus eliminated.
Risiks:
Hypo- and hyperpigmentation, rarely persistent. Redness and swelling and sometimes short-lived crusting.
